MY SHORTLIVED EXPERIENCE WITH MY PITBULLS

MY SHORTLIVED EXPERIENCE WITH MY PITBULLS
By Aris Jr. J. Ordonez
It was during the first week of March 2018 when my dad asked us, me, my brother and my mom to go with him on a short drive.  I got already a hint of where we are heading because during the previous days, he had been talking about getting new puppies.  What I wasn’t aware of was how great these puppies were going to be.  We headed north from our house, going to the direction of Castilla, and entered a small road going towards a place called Poblacion. We stopped after almost 3 kilometers from the national road and eventually got a sight of lots of pitbull puppies.  My father took two of them, a female pup with white fur and light brown spot and a male pup with black spots on it.
We took home the puppies and named them Kodi (male pup) and Kasi (female pup).  We took turn taking care of them and feeding them.  They easily finished eating everything that we gave them lighting speed.  They grew so 1fast.  I used to bring them to the playground to get them acquainted with my playmates and to be accustomed with anybody. I wanted them to be gentle and kind with other people.  These dogs are not your cute kind of puppies, they are beast-looking in appearance and anybody’s first impression was that they are ferocious.  It turned out that they are all wrong.  My puppies turned out to very playful, could easily be accustomed with anybody and very likeable.
Two months after, the pups turned into little beast in appearance but was able to maintain their attitude towards anybody.  They are still very playful, gentle, and kind.  Everybody liked them.  They are the first thing that I looked for in the morning.
It is this one morning in the early weeks of June in 2018 when I woke up seeing my pups feeling weak and sad looking.  They did not touch their food and not even took a sip of their water.  My father was worried.  He brought both of them to the clinic for checkup.  The vet recommended some vitamins and medications.  Eventually, the two of them got well.
A week after, Kasi got sick again, and this time much worse as compared to the previous one.  She did not touch her food again nor take a sip of her water.  We took her to the clinic again and was confined for several days.  She succumbed to her sickness after several days.  It took me to tears upon seeing her.  My dad buried her in our frontyard. It so hard for us to accept what happened.
We took another blow after a week because same fate also happened to Kodi, out other pitbull.  He suffered the same fate and also succumbed to sickness after few days.  The incidents took all our hearts out.   They already took a part in our lives and it will never be easy to forget them.
I really wished I could have another set of pitbulls that would fill the empty space in our heart left by Kodi and Kasi.
